if jack kerouac was the poet laurete of the beat genaration ,nobody has spoken so eloquently on behalf of the hippy subculture as rod mckuen---and then goun on to speak to a and about the rest of amarica. Mckuen,probuly the most read poets in amarica,is in the tridishion of the carl sandbaurg---a farm hand at 11,played in shakespear at 16.at stint in teh army,played in a rock n roll band,bummed arowed europe on his own,a breaf hollywood cerar in b films.a disk jocky in his 20's .Rod mckuen alredy lived sevral lifetimes and hes not yet 40.
