  • It is, however the knitting needle is what provides uniformity in your loops. You could use your finger or just your judgement in pulling up loops of uniform size, however you need to be really, really good to do a whole garment like this!!!! Not for a mere mortal...

  • really great video and advice. i'm going to try that crocheting into the bump for the foundation row. i'm starting to work on a broomstick lace scarf and your video has been helpful. thanks!

  • Want to say this nicely,but just can't find the words. Since you admit you crochet quirkly: it's funny! I like watching you crochet! But it is so distracting. Have you considered having another crocheter also do the steps with you?

  • I've never seen anyone crochet like that in more than 20 yrs lol, however, as you say have fun (tho the regular way is faster and less stressful on your fingers). You can use any crochet hook and knitting needle, if like me, you have problems getting a HUGE broomstick size needle, just buy a broom handle, chop in half, sand it and if you want to, wax it. Works perfectly for me & saved me LOTS of cash as they're expensive =)

  • I like how you stitched in the back loop. I am also self taught and have been wanting to learn the broomstick lace and you make it soooo easy.

  • Just wanted to ask.Do u really need to go out and buy a knitting needle or can u do broomstick lace with just a stick? kind of a silly question but please answer because large knitting needles are quite expencive where i live.

  • You're right, I'm a self taught knitter and crocheter .. I don't do either like anyone else .. it all comes out looking as they should, so why change how things are done. I'm happy to have found your videos .. I'm a visual learner, and broomstick lace has eluded me! Thank you thank you thank you.

  • I can't get the criss-crossed look. Do you have any tips?

  • I subscribed because I think you are very good and easy to follow... I like your videos! And I would like to see how you start a poncho, large size. If possible, thanks

  • Broomstick lace is some of the most beautiful needlework, created with a minimum of effort. My gran and I used to make things together.

  • I throw my yarn too. :=)
