Another example of why the Chicago gun ban is a failure, and how citizens have been saving their lives by ignoring it. This is the 4th time in less than 1 month.

The timing is interesting because the US Supreme Court is expected to declare Chicago's handgun ban unconstitutional this month.

Here are the last 4 incidents where a handgun has been used in defense, despite Chicago's handgun ban.

5/19/2010 - An off duty officer, Thomas Wortham, was killed while several thugs tried to steal his new motorcycle. Thomas Wortham's father, who is a retired police officer, was not able to save his son, but he was able to wound one and kill another thug, possibly saving his own life. The remaining 2 thugs were caught and are now on trial for the murder of Thomas. This story is an exception because although a handgun was used, the retired police officer was exempt from the handgun ban.

5/26/2010 - An 80 year old man shot and killed an armed intruder after he had broke into his house, before dawn. The fatal shots were only delivered after the intruder managed to fire off the first 2 shots, but luckily he missed the homeowner. The 80 year old man had his house broken into months prior, so he decided to break the law, and purchase a handgun to protect his family.

6/8/2010 - A pawn shop owner breaks the law by defending his property, his employees, and himself. 3 men walked into the pawn shop with the intentions of robbing it. The owner of the shop shot and killed one of the robbers while the other 2 fled.

6/1/2010- A druggie on the run from the cops smashed through a homeowners window. The intruder "Aaron Marshall" was shot in the side of the chest by the home owner. The homeowner had to break the law in order to defend himself.

  • Would someone please explain to me why those three moronic, oxygen-thieving idiots thought they could get away with robbing a pawn shop--a place that buys and sells all kinds of guns!? Did they even put ANY thought into what could happen if they robbed that place?? Apparently, "no" would be the answer to that question! What a bunch of dipshits!!

  • @Racingirl911

You about summed it up. They did not put any depth of thought into their actions. IL has a surplus of these "near sighted" folks, with the majority residing in Chicago.

The so called "law makers" have the same problem - not being able to see beyond their noses, and creating lots of "unintended consequences".

    ...must be the water.

  • It looks like the 'citizens' of Chicago are tired of being victims.

  • Notice the Title Deadly Shooting. Now if its in selfe defense its not a deadly shooting it should be Would be robbers shot and killed. Funny how the media makes it us gun owners the bad guys.

  • Here in Canada we have the gun laws and i figure it was only for a money grab. It cost millions to get it done. I know i can buy a gun from the black market and use it if my family was EVER in danger. 5 years for having an unregistered gun. "Kill or be killed"???????
