I've got MS myself, and at 35 still manage to live on my own (with a lot of help from family and neighbours). I can't imagine what it's like for young kids to take on so much work and responsibility.
They definitely make an enormous difference to the person they care for. This is not something that can be measured, but paying someone to replace them would cost quite a lot.
I want to thank all these young carers for the tremendous work and love that they give.
@theRod1995 The same with me, I care for my older sister, and all of my friends talk about how their older sisters take them out and do their nails and make-up. Even though its not a big deal, it makes me realize what I'm missing out on :(
I'm doing a play about young carers for my drama BTEC and i just want to say well done to all the young carers, I've been researching yong carers and I find it very hard to imagine and understand how they must feel and how they carry on, exceptional young people, <3
A beautiful film full of sentiment and understanding, I have so much respect for you young carers and I know that your going to make remarkable grown ups... Good luck and take care!
If you're a young carer in Norfolk and would be interested in a career in care, check out the new Passport 2 Care programme being run by Norfolk County Council (there's a video here on YouTube).
I am a young carer, I help look after my older brother (I have no other siblings) and I am noramlly happy but one thing that makes me sad is when people (like friends) talk about the fun they have with their siblings and start talking about their siblings and I feel so sad :'(
