  • i truly love this version..what a voice!!

  • The voice of a 58years-old. What a revelation: no traces of wear. We should never forget the fact that he was a chasan.

  • This singer deserves much more attention - his voice is so supported, in the "right place." He has a brain and it shows. An all round vocal athlete but also thinking. This is one of great vocal accomplishments on Youtube. And I am a snob! I'll admit it!

  • @seektheforce I disagree. It's a barn burner of a song. Not tender. Not an argument--never--wish I'd heard him live.

  • @cantorga -Il mio-John McCormack. Best breath control that I have ever heard.

  • I love singing this aria, but Jan Peerce did it much better!

  • @seektheforce If compares to the gutless, anemic, and quite frankly boring renditions you might hear today, sure. Is this a problem?

  • @suzannesadiiqa Peerce was MR. BREATH CONTROL. He was famous for doing--and I heard it twice, live, the long melisma toward the end of "Il Mio Tesoro"--hge didn't even a take a breath before going into the reprise of "Il mio etc." It made my hair (nd that of akll other opera professionals I've ever known) stand on end with amazement. To the best of my knowledge no other tenor has ever done that

  • This is the best breath control in the longer passages that I have heard to date and this at a slower tempo than the more modern versions. It is such a shame when passages are broken when the singer runs out of puff!

  • @damedesmontagnes You are absolutely right - his happiness and love of singing makes me happy too. What a voice!

  • @seektheforce: I see what you mean, but I love his bright, triumphant interpretation.
