Growing concern over Afghanistan's madrassas - 24 Jan 08

The Afghan government is trying to reform the country's religious schools and encourage them to teach other subjects as well as religion.

Efforts to build state-funded schools are hampered by shortage of funds and resistance from the schools' teachers.

The government worries that without regulation, madrassas could become a breeding ground for a new generation of Taliban fighters.

@ikran2007, If the west wanted to remove Islam from the face of the Earth they would have dropped nuclea bomb on all the muslim countries, starting with Saudi. The West fought against fellow christians to defend the rights of muslims in Kosovo. Live and let live, if no one is hurting u what business of it is yours to wanna tell people how to live their life.
