I don't really agree with the AA thing as an example (though I understand your point). Some people are forced by the court to attend AA meetings as part of their sentence for DUIs etcetera.

The point of admitting is to get people to willingly attend, not because they were forced or because their family wanted them to and admit that they want help.

Uhm....'accusing the average atheist of not knowing what evolution is is like accusing a law school graduate of not knowing about law' WHAT!? Are you saying atheists are inherently knowledgeable about evolution by virtue of them being atheists? That to become an atheist you must research evolution? Conversely are you saying that to know about evolution you must be an atheist? That is the most backwards ridiculous "logic" ever. Im not religious but I can see why people tune atheists out.

Darwin DID want evolution to be understood in a broader sense than the biological evolution, but there are a lot of narrow senses of evolution which are hugely distinct.
