De Niro is undoubtedly a fine actor, in the class of Spencer Tracy. But he is wrong. That was not energetic or enthusiastic enough.
He obviously felt he was too talented to do such a plug, but possibly obliged to.
They weren't asking him to do a Jim Carrey version.
