Search teams are actively looking for six people from two families who have been missing since embarking on a snowmobile outing on Friday and heavy snow prevented searchers from resuming their hunt Sunday for four New Mexico snowmobilers missing near Cumbres Pass. Rescue units from both sides of the border looked for the families on Saturday and planned to resume the search this morning at 8 a.m. But the storm that has been dropping snow throughout the high country has blocked the pass, said Maria Martinez,Conejos County sheriff's deputy. As much as five feet of snow clogs a road into the pass, and two more feet could fall by the end of the day.
