The air force has taken its unmanned aerial system program to the next level - space. On earth day, the x-37b was launched into space from cape canaveral in an atlas v rocket. The x-37 is the first orbital test vehicle since the space shuttle that can return things from orbit.
The fact that the x-37 is unmanned provides a few advantages over the more well known nasa space shuttle. The x-37 is smaller weighing in around 11-thousand pounds at launch and standing a little more than nine feet high and 29 feet long. The space shuttle endeavor is 122 feet long and weighs 78 tons. The x-37 can also stay in orbit up to two hundred seventy days - ten times longer than the endeavor.
The x-37 is scheduled to return from its test orbit in nine months. Tech sergeant chris decker, san antonio, texas.

@kaktisbalaktikakel I didn't mean militarize space is good. But, I was saying that I could see that with that device you could bring back stuff from space. As there is military satellites around Earth, you could decide to bring them back home instead of leaving them. This way you keep it secret what that satellite was design for. I was saying simply a type of application.
