A guaranteed way to meet all your Rosetta Stone needs. Because of a recently discovered exploit (first pointed out by ForteGSOmega) in the card RNG it was found that you could abolish rules on your first try with a little preparation.

IMPORTANT: If you do not have a disc 2 save in Dollet I highly suggest you look at the video entitled method A. It should be of much more help to you. Link here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTKEdmyK-z8&feature=channel

Mr Hangman noticed that the same RNG was used in the determination of the items you receive from the card players in D-District Prison.

Knowing this we can set up the RNG so that the item you receive from the '200 gil player' on floor 11 of District-D Prison will be a Rosetta Stone every single time. That basically means 4x ability on all 3 players disc 2 with minimal effort.

This video shows one way I have used with much success of manipulating the RNG for infinite Rosetta stones.

You can just watch the video and try and replicate it, but that would be near impossible. As for this I will explain the annoying complicated procedure in depth.

The stack I am looking at is in the dollet pub, and allows us to move the card RNG up 1 time whenever we 'talk' to the stack. So for all practical needs you will be talking to this stack 53 times (although recently I found out 54 times might work better if you are too quick for 53). If you lose count you are looking for 'potion, something about mother's day, nothing, nothing, nothing' from the stack, and then stop. The problem with this is you will need to run through disc 2 until you can go back to Dollet on a separate save file. The alternative is to challenge the card player to a game 53 or 54 times and say no each time but it's easier to lose count this way. Either way it goes something like this. Note: You need enc-none.

1) Hard reset
2) (optional) Load Dollet pub save file and advance RNG by 'talking' to the stack of cards 53 times. You will need to exit and re-enter the room every third item you get from the stack or the RNG will stop moving.
3) Soft Reset
4) Load up a save in D-District Prison 10th floor (this is right after you got your weapons and before you met up with Squall). Then exit the room.
4) Hold left as screen loads and then change to holding up to walk up the stairs as quickly as possible.
5) As next screen loads, hold down left on the d pad until you are through the screen.
6) Hold up right as the screen loads and don't switch to up left until you have reached the end of the curve on the wall you will eventually hit (pay close attention to the video here) once you get half way around the circle holding left-up, simply hold left until the screen changes.
7) Hold up as the screen loads and wait just a split second before pressing right-up.
8) (optional) if you don't have a Dollet save file or didn't advance the RNG earlier, challenge the card player to a game and then say no before actually starting up the game 53 times. Remember, you should only do either number 8 or number 2, not both and not neither.
9) Challenge him again and actually say 'yes' to playing. 'Play' the game and win.
10) You should get a Rosetta Stone. Phew.

Troubleshooting:
If this didn't work, you are following the instructions correctly and you have made sure you counted to 53 right then if your following the path I described you may be going to fast. Go at a similar speed but instead of, 'talking' to the stack, or challenging him and saying no before a game starts 53 times, do it 54 times. This should work.

Yes I know that is damn complicated, hell you might find it easier trying to understand this:

IDK but it is the earliest and quickest supply of Rosetta Stones and once you get the hang of it it's very easy to do.

In a perfect game it saves about 50 hours. Then again in a perfect game that's a drop in the bucket.

  • @melvinmaverick Well, technically there's the one you grab at Esthar, too. At that shop which is otherwise always closed? That's the earliest I could get one before I found out about this method. Too bad you can't really do anything w/ the Rosetta Stones and Shaman Stones. I mean, besides the Ability x4. It does save a teensy bit of time for a perfect game run, I suppose.

  • @Gastrophetes oh yea i forgot about bahamuts abilityx4 o well nice rosseta stone methods.

  • @melvinmaverick

No real point. However, I got those over a substantial number of paths, trying to figure out one which involved the least unique directional changes and worked the most consistently. So testing accounts for most of it.

It's also for anyone going for a "perfect game" (the nuts going for 100 of all items). Although sadly you can only speed up 200 items worth of farming (33 hours maybe)

You don't really need six. Bahamut comes with 4x ability and 6 party junctions are... eh.

  • @Gastrophetes whats the point of so many rosetta stones? all you need are 6, am i missin somethng here?

  • @DiscoCokkroach

I'd advise using method A, this is something I came up with when I didn't understand the RNG too well v.v Yes a Disc 1 Dollet Pub could be used but really this method is barely faster than method A. If you have to switch discs it's slower. The only purpose of this method is that it's slightly faster if you have a disc 2 Dollet save handy and even that's only notable if you are going for 100 Rosetta Stones and possibly 100 Shaman Stones (basically for perfect game stuff).

  • Since disc switching doesn't reset, advance, or move back RNG #, couldn't you use a Disc 1 Dollet Pub save?

  • Yeah, to any other people trying this. I recommend going with 54 draws if 53 doesn't work for you. Happy it worked for you Jumbo!
