  • @jewishwarrior666 8 years of technology advances in 2000 - 2008 = 20 years of technology from 1980-2000 so its understandable.

  • here i am, 10 years later and when i watch this my heart still bursts with pride at what my fellow aussies achieved. sydney olympics, best games ever! =)

  • It is silly to compare which is better or greater. Four years may look short in between games but the development of technology gives the opportunity to produce more highly technical opening ceremonies. As for Sydney when you compare it you say Atlanta or Barcelona, of course it would have been the 'Best Olympics'. Sydney captured more so the spirit of the people, the country and the optimism of the city.

  • Great video, the lighting was absolutely brilliant.

I loved it when the law mowers came out and did the Olympics circles.

  • Hey to everyone reading this, the reliving of the games over the last week has made me wish that a television network in Australia would replay and let us relive the entire Sydney 2000 Olympic games. If anybody is interested send me a message and we’ll see if we can get a petition going. OneHD seems the perfect way!

  • @jewishwarrior666 I have to disagree, the athletics and controversy did in fact help make the Beijing games. But the 2008 opening ceremony felt stark, and I think that future countires/cities know that spending that much money on the opening ceremony is out of the question. I really liked the Sydney and Athens games because they used a lot of human performers instead of relying on technology much how the Beijing games. As you said, Beijing did live up to its hype athleticism and controversy wise

  • @jewishwarrior666 Not in my mind. This opening is the most memorable I have ever seen. 10 years later it still brings me joy.

  • gotta love anz stadium LOL
