Good review. That background music is real annoying and seems out of place.

Well done!

This is a really good overview although I was hoping to see a comparison to the h4n.

Great review. Thanks! I have a H2 and after seeing this I don't see any reason to upgrade except it's prettier! lol

but i heard you can change it after you record it, if you record in raw, but i am not sure how far the editing capabilities are

I think Zoom though there would be a lot of people upgrading from the H2 to the H2n so that's why they didn't include the accessories, but made them an optional kit.

@DavidTitera I've also now noticed the treble is quite high on this mic - my last recording wasn't very good on it but i'm still experimenting with my editing settings -
i really appreciate your review, i have zoom h2, and i wonder how big a difference betwen zoom h2 and zoom h2n really is...wheter is worth buying zoom h2n over zoom h2?
sorry for my bad english, and thanks in advance!
cheers.:)

@slodrum If money is tight, then stick to the H2 - it is excellent and perfectly adequate. The H2n looks prettier, and has a few extra, but not essential features (apart from maybe the dead battery memory buffer). Also the H2n can not be operated using a mains adaptor (the H2 can)

Rick, thanks so much for the unboxing video of the Zoom H2n. I'm about to buy this recorder, but I wanted to ask a question before I do: is it possible to connect the H2n directly to a video recorder (with a 1/8 inch cable) and essentially use the H2n as a stereo microphone? Thanks in advance for your help.

@MyDogWally Not sure, I think the only output from the H2n mic would be via the headphone socket - if you can adapt your leads to work with that configuration, then i guess it'll work - but might take some trial and error to get the recording levels right.
