petco cruelty

READ* this is not inside an actual petco or petland this is where they GET there animals from
don't shop at petco (or petsmart for that matter) they see animals as no more than merchandise and the cruelty that goes on behind the scenes is apalling. petsmart gets its small exoctic birds and fish from one of the largest facilities. and many petstores do the same for all animals. there are plenty of smaller owned businesses that just sell pet supplies or that take care of there animals.

I had a family run pet store for 15 years. We breed our own small pets, or we got them from people in the neighborhood. We only ordered fish. Our pups and kittens were from the local pound. The big Pet stores are running the Moms an Pops out.

This is crappy! I'm really angry with all the petstores everywhere. These people need to take better care of these poor little animals. I wish if my mom would let me I would go and save all the little animals and everything that I could!!

@Amelia102938 But like I said, there are still lots of people who will buy from there. I live in Australia, so I'm already "helping" by not having any petco's in Australia. Instead of complaining online, people need to go out and save them. Make the public aware of how the animals are treated before hand. Print some pictures out and post them on the outside of the store... They're obviously doing fine despite all the hate against them on the INTERNET.

Despite where petco gets its animals from, it isn't going to stop doing so unless more action is taken against them. I see people saying "Ooh, no, don't buy from petco" but obviously A LOT of people still do. The matter needs to be brought up and given more attention. And honestly, if the animal looks healthy enough to be taken home, why not give it a chance to live a better life.
