Bary Dennen is simply great, but he's better in the 1970's version. Anyway when he says that Jesus thinks he's important and that he'd flog him is just divinity, as well as the 39th slash scream.

i love how majestic Pilate looks at 3:35. does anybody else agree that his voice sort of sounds a little like zazu from the lion king at certain points?

OM MY GOD AT 1:36 HIS VOICE IS AMAZING!!! i love how he say we both have truth, it's so hard to imitate and when he does it, it looks like he has to use no effort at all
there's just something so hot about him... lol:)

The old one was more realistic, the new one was more artistic. Both told the story very well, and deserve praise. There is no reason to bash on either version, as both had their merits. Just appreciate both versions for what they are, and the messages they deliver.

Why is one of the guards holding a gun in 2:23?

They added modernized things into this film. They added guns, at one point two jets are flying past, and probably most symbolically, the tanks that Judas runs away from in Damned for All Time. You should see all the things they threw in for the scene with the temple. Everything is there!

I watched John Safran protraying Jesus on some island and he was dragged and whipped 39 times and then really nailed to the cross.

It was unbearable to watch.
