It's a sad and cruel world... but thats life for you. That baby would have starved.... it's hooves might have been undeveloped and soft or something else could have been wrong with it.

yes this is sad but i think it is more sad and actually cruel to keep a person alive only by drugs or machines when they are nothing more than a vegetable, terminally ill or in a lot of pain and just want it to end. that stallion saved that foal from stress of being abandoned and the slow death of starvation, even if a predator came up to kill and eat this foal it would probably be a slow, painful death.

I wish this gal who did the Cloud series had not injected so much human emotion into these horses; they have their own map of life and death. Our interpretation is only a guess, and the horses will always do what they are programmed by nature to do. Nothing at all shocking.....
