The Bush administration never called them refugees. He always called them citizens. The liberal media, on the other hand, did, even going as far as playing the race card and make a circus out of it. Besides, it was the state gov't and the mayor that prevent the buses from going into New Orleans. But now, President Obama is in office. So why hasn't he said anything or done anything about Katrina? And money was given to New Orleans. The problem is most people don't want to g back.

Because they were/are a bunch of idiots?

Even the trash companies had the common sense to move thier trucks to high ground, the city left their busses and didn't even try to use them for evacuation.

I thank Tavis for reminding America there are still areas of the Gulf South, New Orleans included, where Katrina is not part of the past but an everyday visitor.

New Orleans is a danger zone,a basin between river & lake,not very far from the Gulf of Mexico.These Americans, as sad and tragic as it is,should have been evacuated.Did you see what happened in Houston?They evacuated the city BEFORE the hurricane arrived.I learned in college BEFORE Katrina that New Orleans was doomed when the next big hurricane hit. Why didn't the GOVERNMENT of the City of New Orleans KNOW this? You've made this natural disaster into a political and racial issue. That's wrong.
