My biggest gripe is Harmony Gold's unethical business practice, and how they desperately continue to keep Macross out of the U.S. In desperate attempts to stay afloat, H.G. freely uses the "Macross" name to market their "Macross saga" dvds. Hell, they even sell poor quality transformable valkyries from the movie "Macross: DYRL," while marketing it as "Macross," and robotech doesn't even have any relations to DYRL. Because of H.G., our kids will not have a chance to experience MacrossFrontier.

@808jspekeg6 actually. its not Harmony Gold's fault. I read up on that particular case and its actually the japanese company "Big West"s fault. Apparently Harmony Gold only has distribution and title rights to the original macross series that was part of robotech. The reason wht Macross frontier is not distributed in USA is cos either Big West doesnt want to sell the rights or no USA licensing company wants to buy them.

@808jspekeg6 The numbers are not scant, again you are speculating without any fundament, typical attitude from a macross terrorist, do some research before giving an opinion. In fact animators and the studio responsible for mospeada fully supported RTSC, by the way it was a commercial success and has a way better story than Macross frontier, wich is nothing but eye candy and cliche. I loved the music in RTSC, the voices (they included Mark Hamill!!!) and the direction.

@Hematemesis Anime was on the rise before RT (i.e., Astroboy, Gigantor, Voltron). What blows my mind about hardcore RT fans is how they give more credit to HG then they deserve. Mospeada wasn't all that popular to begin with in comparison to Macross, so if there are any fans of Mospeada in Japan, the numbers are scant, and fans of RT is even smaller. RT is laying in its deathbed, and I don't think even Spiderman can save them with Studio Nue (Macross) holding all the Aces.

@808jspekeg6 HG is a key factor to the rise of anime fandom in this continent, you can speculate how could it be without HG, the fact is there was HG and its responsible for the growth of anime taste here. Another thing that bugs me is that macross hardcore fans always attack robotech, but in japan shadow rising is not bashed or criticized as much as it is here, in fact fans of Mospeada loved its release because they see it as a modern episode of one of their favorite series.

@Hematemesis Japanese anime was destined to blow up, w/ or w/o Harmony Gold. The only thing HG did was accelerated the process. I have nephews in junior high who has watched Macross Frontier, as well as Code Geass & RahXephon, and when I asked them about robotech, they were totally clueless. With the dawn of the internet, access is limitless. HG's heinous business practice related to macross far out weighs their contribution, hence why the utter hate people has towards them.

@808jspekeg6 Actually, thanx to Harmony Gold anime became huge in this continent, so now everyone enjoys japanese animation, its because of robotech that anything with the label "macross" on it becomes huge (yeah even crap like macross 7 or the plot empty mcross zero). Your children may be aware of macross frontier, because HG and robotech.

@808jspekeg6 Yeah I have watched Macross F TV series and the movies including this newest one. It is a beast. But it doesn't mean Robotech is a shit. As a fighter jet/robot fan i do love to see animes like Robotech come out

Robotech? LOL, what a joke. Macross's latest movie, Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa, pretty much made robotech their bitch.

Robotech is Harmony Gold's crumbling life-line.
