  • A Calix likes to dabble in shit, sure it is his natural element. Those who allow these productions are as stupid as he. and those critics who applaud such a simpleton trash.

  • @ibnhazm You know what? That is a stupid thing to say whithout having done your research. This might not mean anything to you, but the Spaniards who saw it recognized immediately a crime that had been perpetuated not long before in the streets of Spain. Bieito used a murder commuted by some young football fans as inspiration for this Giovanni and while I agree that not all of it works icertainly think the experience was different for those who were acquainted with the news of the murder.

  • @tenore23 Thank you for his explanation, but I am Spanish and for my nothing means especially this scenery.

  • @ibnhazm and that is exactly why i said "the experience was different for those who were acquainted with the news of the murder...."

  • Horrible setting!

Bieito is gulty of killing Mozart!

  • Mozart can't be killed. Not literally, not metaphorically. His music transcends any director's novel idea, no matter how misguided we might believe it to be.

  • tenor sounds flat.. i hate these productions that modernize it with back stories that don't even follow the libretto. I'd say that i would've walked out of this production but i would'nt have even bought tickets to this junk : )

  • Poor Simon, to be part of this piece of crap!

  • @tenore23 I was a witness in that bad-taste production. I person and honestly think it was insulting for Mozart's and Da Ponte's memory, and it was disgusting seeing all those poor acting-singers throwing food to each other; although the music wasn't greatly performed, but that's another story. I don't think inspiration is or should be an excuse to do such (forgive the word) SHIT, counting specially after all those wonderful stages for Don Giovanni that have been made until today.

  • I don't know if I 'like' it or not. It's very, very disturbing. And Don Giovanni should be disturbing. Should it be this ugly? In any case it's very alive, and it emerges from ddep reflection . And no one can kill the music.

  • something very strange happened. We always laugh and be happy in the musical moment "questo è il fin di chi fa mal" because justice comes finally. But in this interpratation key, tears came to my eyes. We live in times when criminality is studied from neurology, and even criminals are seen as human beeings not discriminated anymore. In this interpratation finaly Don Giovanni gain a real dignity. I am impressed...
