Сюжет: Фильм повествует о враче-психиаторе Смирнове (Олег Янковский), который приехав из Москвы чтобы заменить уходящего на пенсию доктора Александра Егоровича (Армен Джигарханян) встречает в больнице психически больного пациента Тимофеева (Малколм Мак-Дауэлл), считавшего себя убийцей российских императоров Александра II и Николая II. Новый врач беседует со Смирновым, который рассказывает ему о подробностях убийств царственных персон от лица народовольца Игнатия Гриневицкого, казнившего Александра Второго и чекиста Якова Юровского, организовавшего расстрел царской семьи. Пытаясь найти истоки болезни и способ ее лечения, Смирнов сам вживается в роль Николая II, выезжает в Свердловск на место расстрела царской семьи и неожиданно умирает в привокзальной гостинице.

It was not like in the french revolution, when the King was-after a justice-kliied. It was a bloody massacre. Why they kill the children? The Boy? The daughters? the servents?- without ceremony, or after jugde. It was the begin of horror...Poor Russia

During a civil war and an occupation of Russia by Forces of Entente die and were killed a millions children of all peoples of Russia. Tragedy of one family (of citizen Nicolai Romanoff) during these events was a full nothing. Ad verse, all people were very glad that Bloody Nicolai, his dull wife - English and German spy, and these bastards were killed. It is this Bloody Tsar - assassin of millions citizens of Russia was revolution-maker. For dog - dog's death.
