Obviously, I'm not going for realism here. I'm not trying for realism, I'm going for a heavily stylized look. But a lot of people ask me how I do the hair in my drawings, and while the swirls in this one is kind of atypical for my usual style, here you go.

btw. For some unknown reason no matter what I do, Windows Movie Maker squishes the picture top to bottom, like I went on about in the centaur video. But it doesn't matter so much for this one, since it's just hair, but i need to work that out If I'm going to finish the centaur drawing AND record my progress, because I absolutely can not stand the squish on that one.

Clearly, I will have to reduce the number of frames per minute the capture software takes, since this came in at just over 8 minutes and it's just the HAIR, (and I never even finished that part, I skipped finishing the bottom swirls for this video, and there is a final step that will tint the shadows blueish but that comes waaaay later) so anyway, enjoy. Hope someone finds it helpful.

And yes, I'm Canadian, so I spell it colour, with a u. deal.

I forgot to mention, music is 'With Trees' by Korpiklaani

  • Wow! I love this music? What is it and who is it by? I can see using this in the studio as background inspirational music. Awesome!

  • Music is 'With Trees' by Korpiklaani, a Finnish folk-metal band. They tend a bit more towards the folk than the metal. Early stuff is mostly in English but their latest album is mostly in Finnish, if that matters. I love them, they're great, no other band quite like them. And yeah, great for drawing to. :)
