Your entire argument is based on what if statements. None of that happened. He got drafted by the Yankees. Who cares about what could of happened. What did happen? I could easily say, if Joe Torre would have put in Gordon in the 8th in game 4 of the 04 LCS, then only used Rivera 1 inning the Sox wouldn't have won. But that didn't happen. Any real ballplayer doesn't come up with bullshit hypotheticals. To argue that 3000 hits doesn't matter makes no sense. 27 total players have reached 3000 hits.

padres took phil nevin ahead of him in the draft. if he was drafted by the padres hed have zero rings, would be in a avg lineup and if he was the best player on the team they would pitch around him. of the dozen or so people with 3000+ hits, you couldnt give a damn about any of them nor could you name more than a couple of them. jeter won the jackpot of life, admit it, be happy that hes all yours, and watch him stick around as his defense moves from below average to something horrific

You clearly know nothing about baseball. You say he wouldn't exist, then you admit that he will get 3,000 hits. If you get 3,000 hits in the Major leagues, you are one of the best hitters alive. He is 35, and has 2500 and change, he will probably get around 3200. Either way, he is a first ballot HOFer with more WS rings than most guys in the game.

i look at his numbers and im not a fool. the fact is 1999 was very very impressive and hed be the best hitter ever if he could do that production more than a couple years out of im sure will be around 16-18 years in the bigs. he aint gettin much over 3,000 hits so stop dreaming, his legs are shot, hes too old to get better but hes not too old to get worse, which is what hes done each year since 2000. no jealousy here, just speaking the facts,. hes a lucky stiff , just be happy hes a yank

Wow you're an idiot. He is going to get 3,000 hits. He should have been MVP in 1999 (look at his numbers) and possibly in 2006. And? He comes through in the clutch. This is the most ridiculous thing people say, he isn't good. 3,000 hits, probably 3400-3600.
