fair play guys you put in alot of effort it shows! the concept is a bit old and a lil bit unoriginal sorry! but its executed well...its cool that this comp got so many people creative...check out dance flavour let us know what you think

Ok William, I take what your saying on board, and I think the disco track is a good pastiche to be fair. But I maintain what I said- the production is excellent, but the content and concept is nothing people haven't seen a lot of times before. Even if the locations (re: the elevator transformation) provide a superficial difference.
But that's just my opinion, and I wish you luck in the competition, Doritos may love it!

Jonny, our intention was to convey the idea of a product _making_ a PARTY, but not in the obvious ways; rather than "dude becomes babe magnet". I certainly haven't seen the idea of an elevator transformation before!
Re music, we tried out a lot of different styles, and found that a disco feel conveyed fun PARTY better than anything else! We also tried a modern dance track but it felt more "club" than "disco party". Obviously a source track would best convey this, but we had to make our own!

Ok Alex, well i concede that as non professionals on a micro budget you've all done an excellent job in terms of production values.
But come on- ordinary man becomes a super cool babe magnet from eating/buying a certain product?!! Its been done a thousand times. As has the 70's disco funk thing. Sorry, thats just my opinion.
It really does look good though and probably a lot of fun to make im sure.

Um Johnny: Piers is a Computer Science student, Will is a Music Technology student and I'm an engineering graduate. None of us are professional and everyone in this video is working for free including the cast. The total production cost was ~£200 and mainly went into materials for making the camera dolly which I did in about 5 days in a shed at the bottom of our garden.
If it's 'derivative' I'd love to know what you think this is derived from.
-
Considering the amount of resources and professionals that were obviously involved in the making this ad ... compared to most of the other entries, its shockingly unimaginative and derivative. Very standard advertising.
-
I just love this!!!
It's really great to see it all coming together and to get a chance to see behind the scenes.
Best of all you make it look such fun!!!

absolutely fantastic!
Great work all of you! (my opinion might count, as I've been on the film crew of about 400 TV spots since 1981).

Thanks for the kind words HunterMann. The same production team is just rounding up post-production on a 15 minute short film shot last summer, and it even has Doritos Lift Guy as our lead male character!
