I present you my personal death mask. Yes, its an actual rough cast of my face. Id like to thank demonj6 for making a tutorial on how to make a mold of your face by just using plaster bandages. Originally, his video was to teach people how to make a plaster armature of your own face using plaster bandages. To me, instead of making a plaster armature I simply made a mold of my face using plaster bandages and figured that its possible to make a death mask out of it and to my amazement it did. It may not be ultra smooth like the pros do but it having somewhat like a rough texture adds great detail of a worn out kinda look to it. I would also like to thank my friend for filming me walking in some parts of the video. Hope you guys like the two death masks that I personally made and In the near future I will make a tutorial on how to make your own death mask. From now on, the death mask will replace Disfigured Ego as the primary avatar for EvilSlaughter13. The death mask design itself has been known to be used in various things. In Western cultures a death mask is a wax or plaster cast made of a persons face following death. Death masks may be mementos of the dead, or be used for creation of portraits. In other cultures a death mask may be a clay or other artifact placed on the face of the deceased before burial rites. The best known of these are the masks used by ancient Egyptians as part of the mummification process, such as Tutankhamons burial mask.
Mask Meaning: This mask symbolically is my pessimistic view on some aspects in life. The blank expression on the death mask I believe is the essence of negativity and gloomy. Most of the time pessimism can get you aware of the possible mistakes you might encounter in your lifetime. Being optimistic is good, but in a way, always being positive can get you unsuspected suffering that came out of nowhere. Why? Its because you always look forward to the good stuff and not thinking about the negatives that can impact you. Not to mention, being pessimistic all the time can train your mind to think of nothing but pain and suffering. As a result when something wrong happens you will feel nothing since your already used to feeling pain and negativity from being pessimistic. But of course being pessimistic every time is not healthy, you will need to learn when to use pessimistic views and when you dont in order to balance out everything that stands in your way. The second death mask (the one with stitches on the eyes and mouth) basically represents my default personality in public; silent, listener, observer, loner, blind hopeless romantic, and a mere ghost that seems to go through everyone.
What kinda Silicone do you use? cause i gotta tell ya Brick in the Yard on Youtube just put out some new Silicone they been using for sell. its REALLY good for masks and stuff. if your interested.
great video also. i love Manson so that was a perfect choice for the video

@SatansMullet I use monstermold from monstermakers. Its not the kind of silicone used for actually making the casts for the masks but i like it because its durable. Also its cheaper than the actual silicone used for masks because those things are over $100 for a gallon.
