In the summer of '91, on a humid Sunday morn
Momma gettin' us up and dressed, makin' sure our ties were warn

Man, I hated to go there, Sunday mornings the worst
Had to find a way to get out of that place

I grew up, went to college, moved out of the home
Learned about every subject, more than I'd ever known
I learned evolution, Philosophy
Saw discrimination, war and poverty
Everything seemed to stem from superstition

Then I saw the light
And I turned out alright
Truth started to glow
And now I know that there is no God

I looked back at my childhood, had everything been a lie?
All the things that my parents taught me couldn't be verified.
Gays weren't all evil, Prophets weren't so good
The Word of God in the Bible, changed and misunderstood
Can't believe so many still believe this stuff

But I saw the light
And I turned out alright
Truth started to glow
And now I know that there is no God

How do I tell my parents I don't think Grandma went to Heaven
How do I tell my friends that I don't pray for them
And how do I tell my pastor I think he's a delusional phony
I guess I'll do it through song

I've been reading Darwin and Paine, Richard Dawkins and Michel Onfray
I've got a Flying Spaghetti Monster on the back of my Chevrolet
I argue with evangelists, and I vote Democrat
Who'd have guess a Mormon boy would end up like that
Besides all that I'm still a pretty good guy

Great song! Even though I don't completely agree with you. I believe in God (Higher power, something like that, let's just call it God to keep it clear and simple :) ) but I do think that most religions suck.
