  • What a magnificent soundtrack, was it an award winner?

  • at least at the oscars, no, as lotr won a lot that year(and deservedly so), but the score was nominated for an oscar and many other awards, as were the alison krauss songs.

  • i think alison krauss won for the scarlet tide, but i'm not 100% sure

  • no, annie lennox did for 'into the west,' from the return of the king. i may like alison, but howard shore and annie were perfect and deserved it.

  • This is the type of song sang and played by old-timers on a Saturday night. They would get together, invite neighbors to come and bring their instruments to play. Thus, they would sing and dance until the wee hours for entertainment. Most of the time it was the only time they ever saw their neighbors!

  • Bless The South.;.. my heart and all that is me lies there in the faded mountains of my youth. I never saw so clearly...

  • This movie and the music blew me away. Unbelievably beautiful and moving.

  • @bluegrasgirl Yes, this is Martha singing. She is an unbelievable talent. One of the most underrated writers of this type of this genre.

  • who cares who one the awardes i lo ve this song and it donmt matter if any awades where won i stioll love thissss

  • @bluegrasgirl Yes. Martha Scanlan.

  • lovely song

  • @wolfboycase2 Ruby (Renee Zellweger) is on the far right in the picture.

  • Celtic sounds!

  • Anybody know if this is Martha Scanlan signing...sounds like her voice and writing. Haunting.

  • @Rachelater117 (continued) I admit, I lost a lot of money from playing poker out there, but never once had any hard feelings 'bout it. It is about friendship and having a good time in a rough country where for us most of the time it is just traveling thousands of miles on lonely roads hauling ore. Hell, I fucking love all of those songs.

  • @Rachelater117 Hell yeah. In the iron ore mining towns in the Badlands, every Saturday night for us truckers is about poker and whiskey by the keg. Not just truckers, but miners and railroad men join us too. There ain't nothin' better than truckin', drinkin', and singin', and hearing the locomotive horns echoing off the distant mountains.
