Listen to in HQ! This is the dry run for the other vid, so if you want an explanation check that one. I wanted to edit this, but of course I was using Windows Movie Maker, so any editing just made the sound go out of synch massively. Well done, Bill, your products continue to inspire. As a result it's just the first 10 minutes of me mucking around - so there are some good bits and some less good bits! :O

I put this up only because, for some reason, the mics I used for this one drove the granular synth better, especially the kick mic - so I think it sounds better overall. I don't have those mics so I just put this up. Hopefully these two vids together should give you an idea of what this setup can do. ,)

  • how u do this?... i want to know if i can do this but whit others instruments..

Please...I want all the details.. even the smaler one...

    Thank you

An explanation of how it works is on the other vid - see desc. You can do this with other instruments but it works best with something that generates peaks to trigger the granulisation (and also the grains tend to cause uncontrollable pitch shifts, so you can't play "in tune" through this very easily yet). I'll have a look at running a guitar through FLStudio and see if I can make a comparable effect, either like this or some other way.

  • awesome man, very inspiring

  • kind of reminds me of DJ Shadow. only is this REALLY live. lovely!

  • Fuck yeh!!!

  • Dude. This be epic.

  • So awesome, i wanna figure out how to set up something like this...

Using your setup, would you be able to record your two mics and send them through the same effects that they're going through when played live, to achieve the same effect?

  • experimenting in music is what i like, love it !
