The Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings "Israel, Israel, God is Calling" during the Saturday morning session of the 179th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held at the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah in April 2009.

Beautifuly done. It is a special joy to hear the way the women's voices rise in places from 3:14 through 3:45. The whole way the choir sings this song brings joy to my soul. Thank you so much for your heavenly voices. What a treat!

@Sjukurkottur The hymn you are thinking of which is sung using the same tune is What a Friend we have in Jesus. I too am an inactive church member and yes i agree the Mormon Tabernacle choir has the power to tug at the heart strings, and awaken the knowledge that though i no longer attend church there is no doubt in my mind it is the Church of Jesus Christ.

@gregersen80015 Thanks for that, but what I am wondering is weather there exist another english lyrics, sung to this melody. This melody is very well known here in Iceland and I think there are more than one Icelandic lyrics. Is there maybe a more common english lyrics sung in more traditional churches? If so what is it called?
