The song was written around 1970 by the late Clarence White (June 7, 1944 – July 15, 1973) who was a guitar player for Nashville West, The Byrds, Muleskinner, and the Kentucky Colonels. He was killed by a drunk driver while loading gear after a Kentucky Colonels gig. Lover of the Bayou is on the Byrds Untitled album. This is a great cover, and a distinctly different arrangement.

Hi Dorine, nice to hear from you today. Yes that's me on the left and doing the vocals. that song is an older song done by Tom Petty when he was withe a band called Mudcrutch before he started his Heartbreakers band.
