The thing is that he's trying to point out where the Family Rifle is. And the big container behind Gordon Freeman (the one next to the one containing Big Ben) is where the Family Rifle is.

You probably already know this and somebody else had pointed it out but you know those bolts you have?

They're used to test for anomalies (and throw at fellow stalkers). I f you see one of those electric anomalies just throw a bolt at it and it'll set off, then you quickly run through unharmed.
