After running from Inwood-207 St, Manhattan to Rockaway Park, Queens, this Slant A departs departs Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St and deadheads for Pitkin Yard. Tomorrow is/would be the LAST Day for REVENUE Runs on the R40 Slants ever.
R40 Slants
March 23, 1968 to June 9, 2009
I wonder if anyone remembers that the "bars" outside the cars on the slant side were added AFTER they were already in service...at the time it was still SOP to move from car to car while the train was in motion and the slant created what was considered a gap where people could pssibly fall...

even when i was living in New York, i never saw the A train at this station since it goes there only during peak runs.

I go for the construction dates since that's when they were born, not by there debut in service.

thesubwaynut is right. They did debut starting in 1968. the cars were constructed from 1967-1969.
