Fatha Hines has his fingers in all the Jazz since I was a child (born 1933). What a wonderful musician and he just keeps on bringing it.

i just keep coming back to this documentary - it's so naturalistic in a way modern docs aren't. they just put the camera on him and let him talk... theycleaner really strings it together too - it's just a beautiful slice of life.
it doesnt surprise me that hines seems so good natured, it's right there in his music. the man had a sublime talent. the version of "Say It Isnt so" around 35 mins is just beautiful, poginant and moving in equal measure.
thanks so much for sharing.

This music is just incredible. I love the way Hines' music builds thru the film until, in Pt II, "Stanley's Dance" and then "Say it isn't So" are just magical. Wow, just Wow - and thank you.

In some of the passages I felt that I was in the room with THE MAN and he was playing just for me. A rare privelege.
