SHO-time? Ford Taurus SHO vs. 2009 Infiniti G37 @ the Track

When Ford announced its all-new 2010 Taurus SHO as a new-generation premium performance sedan, we took it to mean the term literally. So what better yardstick to measure Ford's claim than a current premium performance sedan with a proven record, the 2009 Infiniti G37 Journey?

The twin-turbo Taurus wouldn't have it easy, seeing how the Infiniti G35 sedan had dethroned the BMW 335i sedan in our five-car comparison last year. More recently a G37 devoured Acura's high-tech TL SH-AWD without so much as a by-your-leave in a head-to-head comparison.

But perhaps the reanimated Super High Output (SHO) Taurus will once again have a few sleeper sedan tricks for the establishment.

Its all about power to weight ratio, Ecoboost is impressive but fitted into a bloated body. The Taurus sHO is 700 heavier than a regular G37 and 500lbs heaver than an AWDG37. The SHO have only 40 hp advantage, not impressive. Having a huge torque doesn't really help the acceleration at all. Car and Driver comparison, 5.0 mustang can barely outrun a 6.0 Camaro! Mustang have higher revving engine and lighter weight.

Obviously the Ford is gonna be a bit slower on the track, its an AWD vs a RWD. RWD is always going to be superior on a track. And @l8tr597 luxury in a skyline really?? Cheap plastic maybe luxury no

@l8tr597 Your Ford what? Model and year? Modifications? etc? Also, beats me in what? Drag? Autocross? Touge? You should understand that people that own a Nissan Skyline 370GT aren't 'nerds'. We buy the car because it encompasses performance, luxury, and statement all in the same package. I can certainly assure you that my car will turn more heads than whatever Ford you drive save for the potential off chance you drive a GT.
