"My tribute to my favorite American band, Buffalo Springfield. Really went after the guitar and drums sounds from their records. It was a great touch to have Ritchie Furay (original Springfield member) sing harmony on it. Thanks, Rich!" (Dan Fogelber)

The Innocent Age written by singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg. The title song of "The Innocent Age" album released 1981.
"With The Innocent Age, Dan Fogelberg created the most ambitious, successful and creative recording of his career... A sprawling, conceptual song cycle, the double album traces the stages of life from the cradle to the grave. Beautifully orchestrated, imaginatively conceived, and obviously well thought out, it works as an artistic statement and also includes some of Fogelberg's most universally appealing and commercially successful music. "Leader of the Band" (about his father) and "Same Old Lang Syne" (about an old girlfriend) have a timeless quality and were big hits A truly outstanding effort and a major work, ... The Innocent Age is a recording of a caliber that few artists could achieve; and the fact that it was so commercially successful is a testament to the enormous gifts and appeal of this multi-talented artist." (Quote from Steve Matteo All Music Guide review)
Special thanks to Bobby for typing Dan's liner notes from Portrait Booklet for me, to River a.k.a Mariaglenn in choosing some beautiful images for me and to the photographers / artists for their beautiful art work creation. This video is dedicated to Jean Fogelberg and to all DanFan for your passions with Dan. It's never over! His music is everlasting in our hearts!
Now, let's listen to Dan's lyrical beautiful ballad...
The Innocent Age (Lyrics)
Capture the moment, carry the day
Stay with the chase as long as you may
Follow the dreamer, the fool and the sage
Back to the days of the innocent age
Storybook endings never appear
They're just someone's way of leading us here
Waiting for wisdom to open the cage
We forged in the fires of the innocent age
(Chorus)
Back at the start it was easy to see
No one to own to, nowhere to be
Deep in the heartlands a sad memory calls to me (calls to me)
Fretful horizons, worrisome skies
Tearful misgivings burning your eyes
Yearnings unanswered, reckon the wage you pay
To recapture the innocent age
(Chorus)
Fretful horizons, worrisome skies
Tearful misgivings burning your eyes
Yearnings unanswered, reckon the wage you
Pay to recapture the innocent age
