I keep getting between 1 and 2 volts with the torch and stainless steel. Check it out and comment.

  • do you know about the joule thief circut? I wonder if you could use a joule thief circut to capture the extra volts or use it for extra light or whatever.

  • maybe the ionized particles from the atomized gas coming out of the hydroxy torch.. I mean you are using electricity to separate the water into hydrogen and oxygen..

  • There is no doubt at all that ions are comming out with the gas. This is the most likely reason why i get that reading. Since i made that video, i have come to the conclusion that ions are the only reasonable answer.

  • Would it be possible that the water that it is now making could be grabing the static electrons and giving you a small reading? just thinking outside the tube...

  • Its possible for sure.

    My best guess after further experimentation is, ions are causing the differential. Voltage can only exist when there is a differential in charge between two points. I believe the gas is ionizing and causing a charge on the steel coupler. I am building a huge torch to see if i can get a higher voltage with more gas.

  • Just try to put a resistor in between the leads of your meter. Your meter has either 1 or 10 megohm of input impedance. That is equivalent to "no load". And as you know, voltage can be put to good use only in circuits that show current and thus, some form of a load.

    I suspect that even 100KOhms would dramaticly that voltage to near zero.

  • Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but you need something like 1.6 volts minimum to convert water to hydrogen and oxygen. Maybe this is the energy you get back when you recombine the two.

    Hey wouldn't it be cool if you could use electricity to convert water to HHO, then when you burned the HHO you got heat as a by product while recapturing a large portion of your initial electricity input. This could in fact mean the HHO is a much more viable energy source than we previously thought.

  • You are experiencing reverse electrolysis. When you oxidize the gas, it gives off a little current. it is like a really inefficent fuel cell or the reverse effect of HHO generation. - micro

  • the same reason you get electricity when you combine these guys anyway? you are just combining them at the torch end? like my statement with question marks?

  • Have you measured around the flame for fluctuating magnetic fields? Perhaps the flame is creating some kind of energy, which the metal becomes a collector / conduit for...

    Just a thought!
