La Aurora International Airport (IATA: GUA, ICAO: MGGT) serves Guatemala City, Guatemala and is located 6km south of Guatemala City's centre. It is administered by the Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil and is Guatemala's busiest and largest airport, followed by Mundo Maya International Airport near Flores, Petén.

La Aurora Airport will be going through some expansions, to provide a better service to passengers and airlines, so it will be able to accept a greater number flights and larger aircraft. A terminal is being built that will house a total of twenty-five aircraft. It is expected that the project will be completed in November 2007.

On June 2007 the airport was certified as Category I by the FAA.
Seven new gates were opened in July equipped with jetway bridges and modern installations, also a new parking garage was opened which is capable of handling 480 vehicles. The new counters were also finished. Nine more gates will be opened in November. The airport will have two terminals: the North Terminal with 14 gates and the Central Terminal used for larger aircraft with four gates. La Aurora Airport will become the most modern airport in Central America and one of the largest ones.

There are 7 new airlines waiting government approval, some have already started. These airlines are Aeromexico, Interjet, Aeromar, Republicair, Spirit Airlines, AirTran Airways, China Airlines. Also some airlines that are operating are going to expand their flights or expand to other destinations such as Delta Airlines, Continental Airlines, United Airlines, Copa Airlines, Iberia. Copa Airlines is planing to create a Secondary hub to free the air trafic in Panama with flights to North America, Mexico, and South America.

Delta Airlines announced service to New York-JFK beginning December 14, 2007 operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Continental Airlines will add a third flight to Houston every day starting in December and non-stop flights to Newark on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Republicair is pending government approval to operate the route Guatemala-Tapachula-Queretaro
Interjet has received government approval for a Cancún to Guatemala flight which will be starting as a charter flight.

Guatemala es la capital mas moderna de toda centro america..pero eso es porque no tiene tanto turismo como lo tiene Honduras, a diferencia de honduras tiene 4 aeropuertos internationales debido al aunge turistico, y 2 mas por construir. pero Honduras no es tan moderno como lo es Guatemala,pero si invierten en estaciones de cruceros, por eso cada pais es diferente yo siempre he dicho que Guatemala siempre mira hacia el futuro, seria bueno que los demas siguieran su ejempo. arriba Guate mucha!

Amigo te aclaro TACA si es de el Salvador, pero no quiere decir q solo sea de el Salvador es puro convenio comercial, te informo todas las frecuencias de centroamerica las tiene Taca Peru, capital Peruano, y te informo LACSA aun existe y es dueno de muchas frecuencias que van y vienen de el sur, y muchas de las que van USA, basta con fijarse en los Boarding pass y si vas para el sur el papel de taca dice operado por LASCA o TACA Peru te lo dice un empleado de taca en USA, saludes.

Si es cierto acerca de este aereopuerto, en el 2004 estuve por alla y estaba en malas condiciones, pero hace un ano estuve de nuevo y les quedo precioso un aereopuerto con muchas comodidades me encanto, solo lastima la pista pero el resto de el recinto es de primer mundo.
