Here is the second knife i got from my dearest father last x-mas. Its goold old opinel #8. french folder "legend". As far as i know, these knives arent as nearly well know here in states as they are back in Europe but trust me guys, these knives were famous big time long before even McGivers swiss army knife got popular. High carbon steel, handle from one piece of wood and very solid locking mechanism and also very affordable price made this knife one of the best outdoor folders in europe for ages for a good reason.

  • Gavkoo I was dissapointed because I realy wanted to see the fit of that case for the Opinel.... It looks sweet I wanted to see it in the case!

  • @MarcoMontana22 oh shoot. didnt even realize. it fits nice inside. doesnt look like its shaped fro that knife but it fits great.

  • Pretty cool, I have maybe 40-45 knives of all shapes and sizes. Just recently I decided to buy a Mora clipper and have been astonished at its versatiliy and basic design, I purchased the Opinel no7 as an EDC because of the basic design much like the Mora.

I think to often we get caught up in looks, and tacticool gadgetry instead of focusing on quality and utility.

I was dissapointed! I really wanted to see how the knife fit in the case?

  • @MarcoMontana22 thats funny, i just bought my first mora yesterday. coming in any day now lol. i have lots of knives like you. all sizes all shapes. love them all. why were you disappointed?

  • I like your video. Im a fan of Opinel also. Carbon steel or inox, that doesnt matter here, any Opinel can be sharpened easiely and you can get them razorsharp. I like your fathers idea to make you this gift. But use it sometimes, it deserves it.

  • @TheJungleD i have regular opinel too that is a user :) lol im getting to the point when i have too many knives to actually use them all :) well to be honest i am way beyond that point fro a while already lol.

  • hi, i am about to buy a opinel and i saw your video , yes they are 10-20 $, but that model of yours with the box its around 50 $ , at least in my country, your father wanted to pay a little extra for you , i like olive handles , i have it on my fox spyfox .

  • @gavkoo - Okay to explain. He was disappointed because he would have appreciated seeing it fit into the black knife sheath. That's all.

By the way, I don't think that version is generally available in camping stores. It looks like a special edition. Maybe a limited production or something?

A very nice gift from your Dad that I'm sure you will cherish for many years.

  • Inox means stainless, short from inoxidable steel, meaning stainless. Great knife.

Some say the carbon steel blade is easier to sharp, I tend to believe so myself. Great video.

  • Damn man, now i have to order it for my collection and also he EFFILE 8 as my gentlemans edc for my suit.

  • It is a pretty nice blade...I have a #7, my dad picked one up for me as well when I was 9 :)

  • I've got one. They're dead cheap but they're great

  • Very nice French folding knives with lots of history and "personality". I like them very much. Enjoy it!. Cheers from Spain.
