You did not show how to add the client remote pc to the domain. If there is no VPN connection setup to connect to the corporate network, how can the win7 client find the server to be added to the domain and be connected to the domain remotely prior to having directaccess setup? Being able to login as user1 domain user profile isn't possible without having directaccess setup already?
