Lamanai is located in the north part of Belize in the Orange Walk District. Lamanai is accessible to tourists by organized day boat trips from Orange Walk Town along the new river. The first description of these ruins were made in 1917 and the site began archeological excavation at the site in 1974 under David M. Pendergast of the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, Ontario, Canada), which continued until 1988. This city is known for the Maya Civilization, and has been documented over a millennium earlier by the Maya inscriptions.

Belize may not have the grand skyscrapers or shopping malls that are found in other countries, but the people still have their humanity, freedom and goodwill towards one another. I hope that never changes.
