Hi Geoffie. Scotty was more than just a singer he was a visionary as well as a great guy. He produced records on others as well as himself. I met Scotty in Nashville in 1963 when he brought me his current hit record Mess Around and Summers Comin by Kirby St Romaine both were in the Billboard Charts at that time. When I came to KBOX in Dallas in 1965 it was Scotty who spent the time to help me get situated. In person Scotty WAS Rollin Dynamite. His wit and talent is missed. FJ

As with so much in the art worlds, significance has nothing to do with an artists work in a certain space and time and is relative. I think by now some of Scotty's work is canonical.

Seriously on the large scale, Scotty didn't do anything that was significant as a solo act. He was just a small regional singer in the Texas area.

Significant to whom? You are certainly entitled to your humble opinion.

This was not a very complete anthology on Scotty. No mention of the KLIF Patition Party he sung for and the song Popeye song he did in 1962.

Give me a break! I played with Scotty for 25 years, and those items you mentioned are far from significant!
