Can't Have You-(A Jonas Brothers Love Story) Chapter 28

*Nick's POV*

Just then Joe and Hanna came bursting in with Joe holding up a phone to his ear.

Joe-Hello? Yes, this is Joe Jonas! Nick's Jonas girl-friend Sarah is unconscious! Hurry!

Operator-Stay on the line until we get there. We are on our way!

Joe-Okay.

Kevin and Brooke-What the heck happened?!

Kasey-Who got hurt?!

5 minutes later the ambulance arrived and took Sarah. We all jumped into Kevin's car and followed it. Once we got to the hospital, they rushed to her to a room and didn't let us in. 30 minutes later the doctors came out and one came over to me.

Doctor-Mr. Nick Jonas?

"Yes, is she okay?!" I said. I was worried sick about her.

Doctor-She is just fine, but we went over and over the tests and she was...

"What?!" I asked impatiently.

Doctor-Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I am sorry.

"Are you sure?! This can't happen!" I yelled.

Doctor-Yes, we went over it many times. Her blood sugar was over 700, a little more and she would have died. She is very lucky. But she is ready to go. My daughter is a big fan, so I know you have diabetes too. You know how to deal with it. Make sure you keep your eyes on her 24/7. Just like you were when you first got it. Okay?

"Okay, but!" I started, but he cut me off.

Doctor-Good day sir. Just call a nurse when she wakes up to disconnect everything off her.

He walked away. I was panicking, I never wanted anyone, especially Sarah to get diabetes. It's worse than it sounds! I didn't want her to go through it like me, it was hard to get use to. I just looked down. "No, not her." I said softly.

Hanna-Look Nick, it's okay.

"No it's not Hanna! I never wanted anyone to go through what I go through everyday! It's horrible! And especially when you just get it, it is very hard to manage! It's not okay! If you don't take extra special care of yourself you can die!" I yelled trying to hold back tears. Then I took a deep breath. "I sorry Hanna, I didn't mean to explode on you. It's just, I'm scared." I told her.

Kasey-*wraps her arm around Nick*It's okay Nick, we will take good care of her, just like we did to you. She'll be just fine.

She smiled at me, I smiled back trying to feel better. But the one thing I was worried about was how I was suppose to tell her. I walked finally into her room. She was lying on the bed asleep. She was very pale, and seemed lifeless. Her heart beat was kinda slow. I sat down on her bed next to her and just looked at her. 5 minutes later I saw her open her beautiful dark brown eyes. A burst of excitement rushed through me, I felt like squeezing her really hard, but I couldn't do that. "Sarah! You woke up!" I said. I kissed her lips softly.

Sarah-*weak voice*Nick! What happened?

Everyone-Sarah!*walk up to the bed*

Hanna-You fainted.

Joe-So I called 9-1-1!

Kevin-We chased the ambulance here.

Brooke-Doctors were in your room for like 30 minutes!

Kasey-But you woke up now!

Sarah-Am I okay?

Hanna-Yeah! Well, except...

Sarah-What?

I stumbled a little bit. My heart started beating faster, I was afraid of how she would react. Joe tapped my shoulder telling me to tell her. "Well, Sarah,... you were diagnosed with... Type 1 diabetes."

Sarah-Really?

Kevin-Yes.

"Sarah, I'm so sorry, don't worry, we'll take good care of you! I swear I'll" I stared but she interupted me.

Sarah-Nick, calm down, it's okay.

"What?" I asked confused.

Sarah-The truth is, I don't care if I get it, it sounds crazy, but I wanted diabetes. So then I could feel what you feel when you sing A Little Bit Longer. I love you, I want to go through everything you go through. It's okay. You aren't alone anymore.

I smiled, because I never would expect she would say that. I felt a whole lot better. A tear went down my face as I smiled. "Thank you." I said.
