A quick video of a couple old records. I didn't realize until after recording that I had the volume too low. I may do a better version later on.

I used the same BSR changer that was in one of my older videos. I wish I had saved the part of the cabinet that it mounted on when I parted out the original stereo.

I hope to clean all of these on my VPI machine when I get the right supplies and fluid. Most of them should clean up well.

  • Nice music. Speaking of Vpi cleaning machines, how do they compare to the Nitty Gritty machines? Do you think one is does a better job than the other.

  • @margaretsville The VPI is much more expensive, I wouldn't really try comparing it to the NItty Gritty.

  • Nice 78's! Swingman1937 has quite the Harry James 78 collection. Great stuff.

That changer is similar to the BSR changer that came in my Sanyo stereo that I bought new in 1979. It didn't last very long before it died. About 12 years ago I swapped in a Garrard turntable that I found at a yard sale and it works fine. If you look back to my Christmas music videos, it is featured in the Gene Autry "Rudolph The Red Nosed Raindeer" video.

  • @JeffN727 This one had the platter bearing seized super tight, but since I got it lubed it's been rolling great. I would never play any of my LP's on this table though. I only use it for 78's.

  • Hey Max if you do not know already 78's are very fragile and you do not clean them with the same solution you clean Vynl LP's. Just use water and soap and not too much soap and be careful of the labels when cleaning them. Enjoy! I have a bunch I should give you some because I have to do a major cleaning out of my collection soon. Let me know if you are interested

  • @Psqwall Sounds cool, let me know when you sort through them.

  • great Record!I remember when i used to own an old Columbia 78 with the offcenter leadout groove at the end.Had double grooves as opposed to single.I had seen a Capitol version where the grooves follow the tailout ofcenter wise.Good Music.Brainy at BMSS

  • Now that's some nice music, do you like to share them ? upload, flac version :)

  • wow my grandpa has a record player like this.we have alot of old records here we will probably sell.some even talking machine ones 1901 i wonder how much they r worht?

  • can this play 16inch records?

  • @Maxxarcade--I know what you mean. Those old BSRs are pretty infamous for the motors seizing on them. I've had a few of them myself. Now, I mostly stick to: SONY, Technics, Audio Technica and such.

  • Awesome!

At least you have something to play 78's with.

I have a small collection of 78's myself but nothing to play them with :-(

    Thanks for sharing.
