Kya baat hai, Mirzaa Sahab! Yeh gaana kahaan se mila aapko? It is gorgeous. Somehow, there is a sadness behind the gaiety in both the song and the actress. The style of singing may also be the reason. And it seems to me that this sadness is almost presaging the unhappy life that the lovely Madhubala lived. Here we see a child of 16, but yet a child who somehow seems world-weary. It's a great clip.

What a soothing melody. Thanks sir.

I like how in the old days heroins had to move their lips in a unusual way to film a song.

Madhubala was born in 1933.. Neel Kamal was released in 1947, which means Madhubala was 14 at that time. Singaar was released in 1949, hence she was 16...

In fact the original recording artist is Surendar Kaur of this song.

Sorry I omitted to supply the following info:
Madhubala originally appeared in Basant & Kedar Sharma's Neel Kamal under the name of Mumtaz. Perhaps Neel Kamal was her first picture in the adult role. She might have been 16 then; but certainly not when she appeared in Singar!

A wonderful song by Surinder Kaur to the accompaniment of captivating music. I have seen her old movies e.g. Basant, Neel Kamal etc.; but had never heard of Singar. I had never heard this song either. What a pleasant surprise.
I salute you Mirzasahib for puttingH this gem of a song in the public domain.

I think she is saying "Dill Aanay kay Dhang Niralay Hain"
It is often stated that she had to act in movies to keep her family fed and to keep her father's affection. This is an age when most teenagers are allowed to be carefree and quite selfish. Madhubala had to behave much more responsibly at a very young age.

Very good audio quality. No more comments needed for Madhubala but Surunder did a great job.
