Sam Bickersteth, Senior Climate Change and Agriculture Advisor at DFID, discusses agriculture's link to food security, poverty alleviation and climate mitigation efforts.

Interviewed live at the United Nations climate talks in Cancun, Bickersteth sees a central role for agriculture in addressing the impacts of climate change. Not only do farmers require additional support to adapt to changing weather conditions, but they also can adopt new technologies and practices to reduce agriculture's emissions while boosting food security.

Bickersteth then discusses how DFID works across sectors to help discover and deliver these solutions to farmers, particularly smallholders in developing countries.
