unfortunately, its only celebrated on some cities in Mexico, especially near the locations of the battles that this brigade was in.
Near Mexico City, theres a monument in honor of these heroes.
Btw John Riley was signed up in the mexican army as Juan Reley ;) interesting info :P

do does mexico celbrate st. patricks day? or is it called something else to honor "los san patricios"?

they were first irish men fighting in the american army but they deserted and joined the mexican army. They fought and died on this land. The americans used to fear a fight when they knew the san patricios were on the other side. Most of them were hanged for desertion when the american army won the war and captured them.
Their days are september 12th and march 17th.

known as the "colorados valientes" or "los san patricios", they were some hundreds of irish men that fought along the mexicans against the american army during the mexican-american war. John Riley was the leader of this brigade :)
