So you're saying Jefferson used federal dollars for ONE church & priest, not many. Wait a minute? You're knit picking! Did Jefferson Establish a religeon? What if Obama gave tax dollars to a mosque in the Bronx? Is that establishing a religeon? No! He'd be redistributing taxpayer money. I'd rather have him leave the money with the taxpayers to give to any cause we prefer, but the "Separation" issue is disingenuously stated regularly. Sunday services. Capitol building. Jefferson went. 8 years
@sosadforcountry When you go to those documents yourself you will see that he is not directly quoting from them or he is changing the meaning of the document. Just because he holds up a document that proves he is telling the truth? Chris Rodda wrote a book called Liars for Jesus and the documents she cites are on her website. Google Liars for Jesus. The book is a pdf online for free. Until you do your own research you have no valid argument.
She is obviously reading what she is saying. Why should we believe what she says when David Barton actually points out paintings, documents and antique books to back up what he is saying. She has nothing!
The lady is a liar, communist, atheist, a fool, etc. No reasoning with this type of people. Sheeple refuse to believe the truth and spat nothing but lies. Search the history books and the communist, atheist have brain-washed all of you who follow this person. Good luck and God bless.......
2-The secular concerns of life respect making making provision for the support of life, the preservation of health, the temporal prosperity of men, of states, &c. Secular power is that which superintends and governs the temporal affairs of men, the civil or political power; and is contradistinguished from spiritual or ecclsiastical power.
SEC'ULAR, a. [L. secularis, from seculum, the world or an age.]
1. Pertaining to the present world, or to things not spiritual or holy; relating to things not immediately or primarily respecting the soul, but the body; worldly.
....The argument should be why did Jefferson, if he believed in a secular govt with a "wall of separation between of church & state" give money to build a church and provide a priest for Indians? Surely, if he did believe in that he wouldn't have done what he did. And while we're on this subject, why did Jefferson approve the use of the U.S. Capitol Building as a church? Why did he himself attend those services on Sundays if he believed in a secular govt? Surely a violation of the 1st amendment.
The Secular Left is good at changing the subject and they did it here. We went from arguing if the founding fathers wanted a modern version of separation of church and state and wanting a secular country vs a religious one to arguing if Thomas Jefferson actually appropriated money to evangelize the Indians. The fact is that the treaty itself states that federal funds will go to build a Catholic Church and provide a priest. I thought Jefferson believed in a secular govt?
Great Vid, Thanks for the knowledge.
