00-1:00 Welcome everyone. This week we're talking about the impact of the check-in with author Carmine Gallo.
15-2:45 Carmine, tell us a little bit about the two books you wrote on Steve Jobs.
45-4:00 You wrote a book about Steve's presentation skills?
00-5:45 Why can't anyone else in Silicon Valley make a good-looking computer?
45-6:30 Why did Steve's Stanford commencement speech touch us all so much?
30-11:00 Carmine, your new book is called "The Power of Foursquare." What prompted you to write this and why focus on Foursquare?
00-12:30 So it's a reward for the mayor or whoever dominated the check-ins that day?
30-14:30 Are businesses creating different levels of check-in for newbies, mayors, etc.?
30-19:00 How does Foursquare make it easier for businesses to monitor this traffic?
00-21:00 Co-founder Dennis Crowley is quoted in the book as saying that he feels they evolved because of their New York location. Did that influence the destiny of the business?
30-25:30 Why is Foursquare so much more effective?
30-28:00 So in the consumer's mind, there's a positive reinforcement between the brand and useful information?
00-30:00 So you check in at various points around the campus and you get different messages and rewards?
00-31:15 Traditional media just isn't performing how it used to, so this is an especially interesting time for platforms like Foursquare and other, trackable social tools.
15-40:00 The international aspect you talk about in the book is fascinating. Tell me about what you saw in Vienna.
00-43:00 Carmine's advice: If your business wants to use this platform, get on there and see what oher people are doing and how they're using it.
00-45:30 Apple products have always excelled at simplicity.
30-46:15 Thank you so much for joining us today, Carmine. And thank you for watching, fans. We'll see you next week!

  • There's been a major change in the direction of this program. In this latest incarnation of TWISM the target audience seems to be entrepreneurs and executives that want their business to extend into the social media landscape even if they don't know exactly how. I prefer this to the social media consumer focus of the original show.
