Heavens to Erskine Caldwell! THANKS for posting this fascinating footage! I'm currently reading the original 1933 novel. I can see why it was so popular...pretty racy stuff for the time! And (like Faulkner's writings) filled with earthy & eccentric Deep South characters. Have only seen parts of this flick on TV. Wonderful casting...and I think it's Robert Ryan's greatest performance. Hope to see the whole movie someday. You've MADE my day!!! :)
I can only assume that part of the trailer was added in the mid to late 60's after "Gilligan's Island" had begun it's network run. I thought that was strange too when I first heard it! Glad I'm not the only one who notiiced it!
saw this on one of the night movies when all 3 networks had a night movie back in the mid sixties, only 13 at the time....wow.the 2 leading ladies were wow.....great underated film, stunning photography.buddy hackett was a trip and so was stoney burke,i mean steve mcgarret,no it was the best hairpiece in hollywood, john joseph patrick ryan;jack lord

@chkjns I believe the film was re-released in around 1967 and this is the newer version of the trailer.

Gilligan's Island wasn't until 1963. How do we get a reference at 2:07 to that with Tina Louise from a 1958 trailer?
