This is Virgil Elings RC 181 and this is the real deal. It was recently shown at the Legend of the motorcycle held at Half moon bay.

  • At least that's what I was told. The engine looked exactly like the one I saw at the Isle of Man nearly 10 years ago.

  • It would be more telling if you looked at the frame. Mike had the frame modified because he thought (and rightly so, since he was the rider) the bike handled better and it was no more evident than when Hailwood won the World Championship against the great Giacomo Agostini. As it would happen, Agostini stopped by the Museum on his way up to Half Moon Bay to judge a motorcycle show. He begrudgingly signed the back of the bike because "that was his view of the race", says the owner. It's real

  • I am one of the docents in Virgil's Museum, have worked with him for 17 years and I can tell you that the bike is MIKE HAILWOOD'S bike. It was purchased from Pauline Hailwood.
