Hey YouTube, this is my alternative to the popular penny fix, please bear in mind that i have not fully tested this fix as i was filming this in the process of trying it out. If anyone else wants to try it and post their results in the comment section, please fell free. This particular xbox 360 did work again after i was finished, but how long it will continue to work is the point in question. I will leave feedback in a while to let everyone know how its going. Thanks for watching and please rate if you like it!

  • The rrod can be one two or three leds each having different meanings on what's wrong with the console

  • also, as a follow up, my friend told me today that he has used it every day since i did this fix, and it is still working fine. when reassembling this i also extend the fan shroud over the gpu heatsink with a piece of plexiglass cut to size, in order to increase the draw of air over that heatsink

  • @whosetube89 is it still working as of now ? 4/27/2010

  • sorry it took me so long to respond guys. the xbox is not working anymore... although this fix worked the longest, the xbox still got the same error again. everything went back together just as you would any other way, and the heatsinks only cost like $5 for a pack of eight. but since this vid i had to fix it like 3 more times so i have come to label this fix as a temporary fix. also the E74 error has been put on my list as a permanent error. As my fixes have only temporarily worked.

  • i cant remember exactly, but the heatsinks were between $5-$10, also i haven't been able to find a solder tip that small. the tip i have is good for soldering chips back on to the bottom of the motherboard as long as they are not too close to other ones.

  • Note: if you do anything with pennies... only pennies before 1982 are copper, pennies from later on are 99% zinc, which is a poor conductor of heat.

  • @whosetube89 1 red light is E74 or E73

    2 is overheating

    3 is RROD (easy fix)

    4 is AV-Cable not connected

  • @RunescapeKing3500 E74 has one.

  • wait .... i thought the rrod had 3 red leds but this only has 1.... so how is this the rrod?

  • as a former mgr for RS, just wanted to toss out there that the Thermal Take products are not stocked at every store, only stores with high volume of computer parts get them, so if you go to your local one and they don't have them, try calling around other RS's, or if you have a Frys or MicroCenter, they're cheaper, last resort is BBY, which has these but for the highest price.

  • I found some aluminum heat sinks at radio shack way better than the copper for the bottom. also ..all the x clamp guides set their selves up to fail ..Please stop the penny trick use computer parts and fans ..think motherboard....note the best way to fix your xbox right the first time is use better material the homemade crap will not last it's better to things right in order the first time.

  • u need to get some new capacitors... they dont look so good

  • What would happen if you burned out a ram chip?

  • put another one on the southbridge, the silver circle on the board
